Golden Real Estate

At one time Golden was the capital of the territory known as Colorado and the center of its railroad activity.  That was between 1862 and 1867 while today it is known as the Jefferson County seat.

Perhaps what Golden is most known for is its largest employer, the Adolph Coors Brewery.  It also houses the Colorado School of Mines which is considered one of the top Earth Science Universities in the Nation.  SERI or the Solar Energy Research Institute is also located in Golden which is on the west side of metro Denver (15 miles from downtown) at the base of the foothills.

Golden’s main street contributes to its small town feel with restaurants, shops, galleries and the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum.  The Astor House (once a boarding house) is there along with the old capital building.  A few additional attractions nearby include Heritage Square, Buffalo Bill Museum, a Railroad Museum, the Hiwan Homestead and the Boettcher Mansion.

Golden foothills location makes it a desirable destination for many relocating to the Denver metro region.  The city has placed strict controls over the issuance of new building permits in an attempt to control the growth which allows it to keep its small town atmosphere.  On the other hand the scarcity of homes available in Golden also tends to increase the home values located there making Golden real estate some of the more expensive within the Denver metro area.
