ken-caryl_350Ken Caryl, less than twenty miles from the city of Denver, is a serene, close-knit community that offers commuters the chance to escape from a long day of work in the city by returning to a neighborhood that has been designed to refresh and reinvigorate them.

The Ken Caryl area was developed as a planned community, and this shows in the perfect balance of residential, commercial and recreational activity in the neighborhood, as well as in the abundance of open space and parks. Development of the area began in 1970 with the intention of creating a peaceful oasis away from the bustling center of Denver, although still within easy reach of the city. Residents can easily commute to Denver, but they will return at the end of the day to a home that is set in a beautifully landscaped and carefully planned community. They can enjoy the many parks and open spaces, visit the local shopping and entertainment areas, or take part in one of the community led activities or events.

Residents of the Ken Caryl neighborhood have access to a range of different recreational facilities and services, including sports grounds, three recreation centers and various educational opportunities. There are many children's playgrounds, parks and sports fields in the area, including facilities for inline skating, tennis, soccer and softball. There is also an equestrian center, which is ideal for anyone who wishes to take advantage of the local trails, many of which are suitable for horseback riding.

The landscape around Ken Caryl is one of the finest in the Denver area. There are some spectacular mountain views, as well as areas of grassland and some stunning formations of the local red rock. There are some beautiful areas of recreational open space in the area in and around the Ken Caryl neighborhood. These include the area known as the Dakota Hogback, a beautiful landscape where some of Colorado's most spectacular native wildlife may be spotted. Deer, elk, and the occasional mountain lion or bear can sometimes be seen here. The area also offers plenty of space for recreation, with a selection of paths that many of the locals enjoy walking, running and cycling upon.

The local community is very active, organizing numerous social events and activities. Residents of Ken Caryl can join a number of different community groups, join in the celebrations at one of the many special events that are held in the neighborhood, or simply enjoy some of the benefits provided for them, such as the beautiful community garden.

Ken Caryl is a family oriented community. It is located within Jefferson County, and is, therefore, served by the Jefferson school system. This is one of the larger school districts in Colorado, which means that it has a wide range of facilities to offer students.

Many of the people who live in this neighborhood work elsewhere in the Denver area. It is ideal for anyone who has to work in the city, but who prefers to live in a smaller community. The area is particularly popular with people who work in engineering because of its proximity to the Lockheed Martin facility, which employs many of the locals.
