Indigo Hill is a predominantly residential community set within the Southridge area of Highlands Ranch. The Indigo Hill neighborhood has a more diverse range of accommodation options than some of the other parts of Highlands Ranch.
Most of the buildings in the Indigo Hill community date from the late 1990s and early 2000s. There are a variety of different styles of building, set into a range of differently sized lots, ensuring that there are a wide range of choices for anyone considering moving into the area. Most of the properties are large, with spacious rooms and high ceilings, and are designed for family life. Although like many of the neighborhoods in Highlands Ranch, Indigo Hill is characterized by large single family properties, it does also have a range of townhouses, which are known as Sundance. Some of the homes in Indigo Hill back onto the green spaces and trails of Highlands Ranch, and many of the houses have stunning views of the Rocky Mountains.
The Indigo Hill community is very popular with families, largely due to the range of recreational amenities in the vicinity. Most of the children living in Indigo Hill go to elementary school at Saddle Ranch, middle school at Ranch View and high school at Thunder Ridge.
As in most parts of Highlands Ranch, many of the people who live in Indigo Hill commute into central Denver. It is easy to do so thanks to the excellent transport links with the city.
One of the main attractions of living in Highlands Ranch is the wealth of recreational facilities that are available to residents. Homes in Indigo Hill provide their owners with easy access to a number of parks, including Tanks Park, which is particularly popular with skaters. Inline hockey is played at Tanks Park during the summer. The Highlands Ranch trails system also passes Indigo Hill, allowing residents to go hiking, running or cycling along the many beautiful routes that wind around the area. Residents can also venture further from home in order to explore the Backcountry Wilderness Area.
There are four recreation centers in the Highlands Ranch area, which provides a range of different sporting and recreational facilities. These are maintained by the Highlands Ranch Community Association. The Southridge, Northridge and Westridge centers are all easily accessible from Indigo Hill.
The Highlands Ranch Community Association is a very active neighborhood association that, in addition to caring for the local area and many of its amenities, also arranges numerous social activities and events for the area's residents. Indigo Hill also has its own secondary neighborhood association, which provides some additional services solely for the residents of this neighborhood. These include a community playground among other local amenities. One of the most popular Indigo Hill facilities, particularly during the summer months, is the community swimming pool.
Residents of Indigo Hill are within easy walking distance of the Highlands Ranch Town Center and the Westridge shopping center, which both have good grocery stores and other shopping opportunities, as well as a number of excellent restaurants. The local Highlands Ranch library is also nearby.
