Highlands Ranch: Small Town Living Within Reach Of Denver

Highlands Ranch is a community that exists within easy commuting distance of Denver, but which is surrounded by some of the area's most beautiful natural scenery. Unlike many suburban areas, Highlands Ranch was planned very carefully in order to ensure that the residents would have access to a wide range of different recreational opportunities and amenities. The community was also developed with the intention of preserving as much of the natural beauty and wildlife as possible, while providing all of the housing needed to house the growing population in the region and establish a new suburb outside of Denver.

Highlands Ranch is made up of a number of different neighborhoods, most of which are predominantly residential, although there are plenty of more commercial areas and shopping centers where the locals can shop, eat out or be entertained.

Highlands Ranch is very popular with people who work in Denver, but who prefer the lifestyle of a smaller and greener community. There are excellent transport links with the city, with good bus and light rail services.

Homes in Highlands Ranch tend to be modern, recently built single family homes. Highlands Ranch has a selection of good schools and is a very family oriented community. The Highlands Ranch area was mainly farmland until the late 20th century, when the rapid expansion of Denver inspired the development of a carefully planned community at Highlands Ranch. The idea was to create a suburb that would feel like a small town, and which would have all of the amenities that would be expected in a self-contained community.

It was this intention to create a community rather than simply a place in which to live that has shaped Highlands Ranch to this day. There are four separate recreation centers for the use of Highlands Ranch residents, many different parks and a system of trails that offer endless opportunities for cycling, walking and running.

The Backcountry Wilderness Area is one of the main attractions of the community for many people, due to the vast potential for recreation and outdoor activities. It is a huge area of preserved wilderness, home to many native species of plants and animals. Residents of Highlands Ranch have access to the system of trails which winds around the Backcountry Wilderness Area, and can therefore enjoy the full benefits of living next to such a beautiful landscape.

The Highlands Ranch Community Association is a very active local organization that manages many of the amenities in the area and which puts on more than a hundred different events for the local residents each year. Many of these are geared towards the younger and older members of the community, through the Youth and Senior programs. These programs include a selection of educational activities and classes and a range of different sports teams.
